Careers, Employability and Skills
Queen's Graduate Internship Programme
A Graduate Internship Programme for those who have recently (within the last two years) graduated from Queen's University Belfast, and can evidence their Right to Work in the UK, is being piloted during 2012-2013.
The Programme aims to support the University's new graduates in gaining paid, graduate level employment for a period of 6 - 12 months. Internships will be advertised through the Careers, Employability & Skills online vacancy database and will be based with a range of employers within the Northern Ireland economy.
The internship posts will require the successful candidate to undertake an appropriately demanding level of work for the employer and will typically include some of the following activities:
|
Project Work |
Involvement in an important project(s) that is central to the work of the employer. |
|
Customer engagement and/or team work |
Some element of developing and maintaining good customer relations and/or work as a full and active member of a team, within the placement company or organisation. |
|
Commercial awareness |
Involvement in some tasks that develop commercial awareness e.g. budgeting, costing and other financial skills, export marketing and other activities to increase the customer base/satisfaction. |
|
Marketing and PR |
Involvement in designing, delivering and innovating marketing events and activities relevant to the post. |
Alongside the employment opportunity for graduates, the University will offer a tailored support and bonus package of career and professional development to help graduates to build on the internship opportunity provided by the employer. Further details of this will be provided in the information pack provided to applicants to specific posts and in the employer information pack.
Queen's will lead the programme by offering including a number of University based internships as part of the pilot offering and by developing partnerships with other local employers and stakeholders to develop the scheme further.
Employers who would be interested in finding out more about the programme should email careers@qub.ac.uk.
