Three top tips for student life at Queen's:
1- Mind your head!
While student life can be very enjoyable from a social aspect, we all get to that stage of stress and despair especially at exam time. My first tip is to not be afraid to ask for help if you need it. The services offered at the Student Guidance Centre are extremely vast and even if you are unsure of what help you need, a simple telephone call or drop in can make a world of difference.
2- Hobbies/ interests in sports don’t have to stop at High School!
Queen's University hosts an impressive range of clubs and societies. From rock climbing to surfing to science clubs, the range is endless. My second tip is to remember that your interests from high school don’t have to end. Take full advantage of what is offered as not only does it keep you motivated and keeps the stress levels down, it is also a great opportunity to make new friends.
3- Prepare yourself for life after Queen's
Whether you are a first year or final year student, my third tip is to start thinking about your career options now. In this climate, getting a job is not as easy as it used to be with just having a degree under your belt. Employers are now growing increasingly interested in any work experience you may have. To help with this, Queens University offers a range of part time employment which helps to develop your skills and at the end, you can be rewarded with a degree plus award to recognise your ability to succeed in your studies alongside extracurricular activities.
