Three top tips for student life at Queen's:
Add to your CV as you go
Aside from your degree programme, try to accumulate a CV that will appeal to future employers as you go. As long as it’s not to the detriment of your studies, get a part-time job! Building such experience can be invaluable when looking for future employment, as well as helping to line your pockets! Involve yourself in the Degree Plus programme and the vast array of Queen’s clubs and societies…as well as meeting new people and developing a sense of belonging, this willingness to get involved will look attractive to prospective employers
Make use of the services Queen’s can offer
Before I started working in the Student Guidance Centre, I was completely unaware of both the quality and diversity of services that Queen’s make available to every single student. Ranging from counselling to careers advice to disability services, all needs are catered for. It took me until after my 3rd year of study to avail of these services…don’t make the same mistake!
Strike a balance!
Don’t burn the candle at both ends! Find a balance that enables you to work consistently at your studies throughout the year whilst also living university life to the full. Balance your studies with a part-time job, clubs and societies, exercise and, last but not least, a healthy social life!
