Being able to communicate well is important within an academic setting for two main reasons: firstly, in terms of ensuring you are able to get across your ideas and opinions, showing that you are learning and progressing; secondly, being able to ask questions and making sure you are on the right track. This may come up when, for example, taking part in tutorials, lectures, labs, or when on placement. There may be times when you are asked to deliver a presentation to your peers in a tutorial or you need to ask for further clarification or direction when on your placement.
Whatever the situation may be it is important to always try to be as clear as possible in all your communication, be it written or verbal. The subsection links in the menu on the left will give you some further tips on how to improve and work on your communication skills, both in general and in specific forums.
