Referencing

There are different referencing systems being used across Queen's University Belfast and it is important that you find out which one you are required to use for each module. Information regarding this can be found both in the school handbook (downloadble from your school's home page) as well as in most module handbooks.

We have designed a bespoke multimedia website to teach various academic referencing systems: Cite2Write

In the menu on the left there are also two quizzes, one for Harvard and one for MHRA, which allows you to check how familiar you are with the rules for each referencing system.

MHRA Referencing

The book Cite them right, written by Richard Pears and Graham Shields, is also a useful resource and guide to referencing. This can be found in the library.

There are also workshops regarding different referencing systems and students can also book one-to-ones to talk to one of our tutors about referencing.
