The Northern Ireland Education Support Unit (NIESU) was set up in 1991 to focus on the professional development of teachers throughout Northern Ireland. Within NIESU there are a range of subject panels comprising teachers, representatives from Queen's and the University Colleges, the education and library boards and from the inspectorate.
The unit, through the work of its subject panels, provides short courses, consultancies and support activities associated with curriculum development, innovation, evaluation and assessment.
