Impact: A Social Innovation Challenge
24/10/2017 - 24/10/2017
12:00AM - 12:00AM
Are you interested in using your research and skills to impact the world around you?
Impact is a programme for postgraduate students who wish to use their research and skills to positively impact the world around them, no previous ideas needed.
For this programme we are working with a youth centre in West Belfast who are giving us the challenge of ‘How can we raise the educational attainment of at-risk young people’. You will visit the youth centre to understand the challenges and hopes of the young people and will work in multi-disciplinary teams using the Design Thinking methodology created by Stanford’s D-School.
We will be using the prototyping studio at Work West to create our solutions and then pitch them back to a panel of young people at the end. The winner will get to see their solution put into practice in the community and we will re-visit them in Semester 2 to see the impact first-hand.
Impact applications need to be in by Monday 9th October
The programme starts on the 24th October.
