1988 Medical Reunion
Medical graduates celebrate 20 years
On the 7th March 2009, 68 members of 1988 medical class came together with wives, husbands and significant others to celebrate the 20th anniversary of graduating from Queen’s.
It was a windy and slightly drizzly weekend, but those 100+ people present had a very warm and friendly get-together at the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle. The party gathered mid-afternoon on Saturday 7th March to hear a most interesting and informative address on a research project recently completed on Mount Everest by a team of medics and other scientists, given by former Queen’s Graduate of the Year, Dr Nigel Hart.
Then the revelling began, with the culmination being a wonderful dinner and Ball at the hotel. The Jukes played all night, but to be honest, it was a shame for them as the majority of people were so pleased to get to catch up with old friends and colleagues that they abandoned the dance floor in their droves!
It was true what they say about old friends just picking up where they left off, and we all very much hope to be around for the 30 years reunion.
Thanks go to Sharon, Simon, Gillian and Vandana who organised this again for us all and to QUB Development Office which helped us to contact many of the year who had lost touch. If you haven’t done this or considered it, please do so as it is very rewarding and worth the effort to get in touch and catch up after all the years that go by!
