Graduation | 14 December, 2018
Yasmina El Sabeh is celebrating today (Friday 14 December) as she graduates with a Master of Law (LLM) in Human Rights and Criminal Justice.
Yasmina, 23, is from Lebanon and came to Queen’s as an international scholarship student.
During her time at the University, Yasmina developed her leadership skills through The Graduate School's ‘Master Your Leadership programme’, and is graduating with a DegreePlus award as well as her degree.
She was also involved in extra-curricular activities through Queen’s clubs and societies. This includes being part of Queen’s Amnesty International, being a Pro-Choice Ambassador, International Ambassador and member of Queen’s Gender Network.
Speaking ahead of her graduation ceremony, Yasmina said: “Studying at Queen's was a life-changing experience through which I gained not only an LLM degree, but also immense knowledge. I met wonderful people who will surely invest in making positive change wherever they go. At Queen’s I was mentored by extremely professional and well-established lecturers and I was lucky enough to be part of an institution that has such a wide variety of resources, including the McClay Library.
“I am very happy to be graduating and extremely grateful to my family, professors, friends, and all those who made this day possible. Who knows, maybe someday I will come back as a visiting professor.”
Yasmina is currently working at the Prime Minister's office in Lebanon. In January 2019 she will be moving to the Netherlands to take up a post in The Hague at the International Criminal Court's Special Tribunal of Lebanon.
