Michaelle Moreland Graduation- Mon 3 July

Hat-trick for Queen’s Graduate

3/07/2017

Michelle Moreland will graduate today (Monday 3 July) for the third time with a degree in Medicine from the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queen’s University.

Michelle’s journey at Queen’s began in 2005 when she started a degree in Pharmacy. Graduating with a first class honours, she went on to work as a pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland before returning to Queen’s to undertake a postgraduate Master of Philosophy with the School of Pharmacy. With a keen interest in helping those affected by cystic fibrosis, she focused her dissertation research on better understanding how the disease affects the human body.

Passionate about helping others, Michelle decided to apply for a degree in medicine. Five years later, Michelle is today (3 July) graduating from the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. Despite facing the tragic loss of her father during her fourth year of medicine, she still managed to achieve a distinction during each year of her degree. Michelle said: “After losing my father, I couldn’t have continued my studies without the support I received from my family, friends and the staff at Queen’s.

“After eleven enjoyable years, I am sad to be leaving Queen's University but I am also happy to have received a fantastic education from a world class university, and I have made many lifelong friends along the way. I’m looking forward to putting the invaluable life lessons and skills I’ve learnt here to great use when I start as a doctor in the Royal Victoria Hospital next month.”
