The graduating globetrotter who’s found success at home
Cormac Quinn, from Newry, Co Down, will graduate today with a MEng in Computer Science from the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen’s.
In the course of his five–year degree, Cormac has undertaken internships every year – including with Infosys in Hyderabad, India; iSoftStone, in Shenzhen, China and American Express in Brighton, UK. This summer, he will travel across the Atlantic to work in New York City with MSA Security.
Queen’s partners with global companies like Petronas and Infosys to bring investment and jobs to Northern Ireland, and the University has links with over 3,000 employers worldwide.
Cormac’s success means he has already accepted a graduate job with Queen’s spinout software company Kainos, which he will take up upon his return from the US in August.
Speaking about his journey to graduation day, Cormac, said: “Coming from a lower income background, I never would have thought I could have done all of this five years ago and I'm very glad that I chose to come to Queen's.”
