Weald and Downland Open Air Museum reconstruction
Project Description
The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum (near Chichester, Sussex) has spent much time over the last five years considering its display of medieval buildings. The present project arises from a realization that one of the buildings erected in the early 1970s is probably a bakehouse/kitchen. The museum is proposing to reconstruct a house based on excavated evidence to stand alongside the existing ancillary building. The project is to provide the best academic advice on the structure and form of the new building based on a study of excavated houses.
