Respite Holidays for carers, families and people with Learning Disability
Project Description
Over the past three years students from the School of Nursing and Midwifery have contributed to a scheme which offers holidays/respite for both a group of life limited children who have learning disabilities, and their families.

This holiday is organised by the charity 'People for People' and the venue is Corrymeela, North Antrim.
This scheme has been very successful and everyone has commented on the dedication and ability of our students. In fact our contribution has been so successful that we have been asked to assist with two further holidays this year. One takes place this May and the other takes place during July.

I have supported the students during this scheme and last year I accompanied them and witnessed first hand their contribution.
The parents of the children commented on the skill and professionalism of our students. Students themselves found the experience very rewarding and unique. They clearly offered skilled help and apart from receiving enormous rewards, met many of their learning outcomes as well!
