Across the Lough
Project Description
As part of the One Small Step Campaign art@queen’s supported by Discovering Queen’s, has organised a day of workshops and activities on Friday 11 March for year 11 students from Ashfield Boys High School and St.Patrick’s College.

The day will begin with a tour of a pale yellow sky, the exhibition at the Naughton Gallery inspired by haiku - the Japanese poetry form. The exhibition features paintings, prints and 3d pieces by Jean Duncan, with an especially composed score for the harp by Deirdre McKay.

Two workshops will follow the tour beginning with a haiku workshop, which will give the students an opportunity to discuss aspects of their everyday lives and then reflect these by creating their own haiku. Following this, Jean Duncan will facilitate a printmaking workshop encouraging the students to illustrate their poems using the process of dry-point printmaking.

To finish off the day the students will be treated to a screening of a short Japanese animated film at the QFT.
