The development of a Risk Communication model based on food safety practices in the home to facilitate adoption of best practice in disseminating information with a food risk component.
Project Description
  • This study aims to develop best practice guidelines for the dissemination of messages with a food risk component
  • The project will investigate both urban and rural population in parallel, both North and South
  • 1,500 primary school children will use a food safety diary to collect descriptive accounts of food practices within their homes. There will also be an investigation of the composition of packed lunches
  • A video produced by the research team of QUB and UCD will assess the ability of consumers to cognitively recognise food risk, thereby indicating likely behaviour in the home
  • Research outcomes with be disseminated to stakeholders in agri-food sectors in both North and South of Ireland by two conferences

    Target Audience: Stakeholders in the agri-food sectors in Ireland, such as educators, policy makers and industry representatives
