Shopping for Science
|
||
| Project Description An innovative, quality project which aims to foster partnerships between the Queen's University, the School of Agriculture and Food Science, local primary schools in disadvantaged areas and the community in that area, and also aims to make science relevant for pupils by demonstrating the connections between the science and mathematics they study in school with everyday life. Pupils work in small groups to identify an interesting question that involves science in the local supermarket. They then research the issue using resources at school, a visit to the supermarket and by interviewing a researcher at Newforge. The project culminates in an open evening for students and parents where each class presents their research project. |
