Sign Language and Communications Tactics with Deaf People

| Project Description A student selected component for second year medical students to encourage awareness of the needs of deaf and hard of hearing people, their language and communication. Students attend RNID throughout the semester, learn Level 1 British Sign Language and have a series of seminars on important issues for deaf people in relation to health and health care. Students also work on the development of a medical sign language dictionary with the aim of eventually producing a resource for use by medical personnel. |
