Research and Postgraduate Committee

Terms of Reference:

(a)   To promote and encourage high quality research in the University.
(b)    To advise Academic Council on the development and implementation of research strategy, including the identifcation of opportunities for external collaboration.
(c)    To consider all aspects of University policy, regulations and traning for postgraduate research students.
(d)    To oversee processes to assure the quality and standards of research degree programmes.
(e)   To consider reports from appropriate bodies (eg Postgraduate Advisory Body) and Directorates on research related issues, such as monitoring research student performance indicators.

 Composition:

Chair:   Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and International Partnerships) 
Ex Officio:    Director of Research and Regional Services
    Director of Academic and Student Affairs
    Deans
    Three Heads of School (one nominated by each Dean)
    Six Directors of Research drawn from each of the Faculty groupings
    President, Students' Union (or nominee)
    Vice-President, Students' Union (Education) (or nominee)
    Up to three co-opted members
In Attendance:   Relevant University Officers as required.
