Normally a 2.1 Honours degree or above or equivalent recognised qualification in Politics or a related subject.
Applicants who are non-EEA nationals must satisfy the UK Border Agency (UKBA) immigration requirements for English language for visa purposes, normally by providing evidence of one of the following:
1 year full-time or 2 years part-time
25 maximum
Afternoon and evening.
Normally these degrees are self-funded. If there are any School bursaries, they will be advertised on the School website
Students currently take six taught modules drawn from those offered within the other MA programmes in Politics:

International Security or Theories of Ethnicity and Ethnic Conflict
Key Thinkers in Contemporary Philosophy
National Ethnic and Conflict Management
Political Theories of Equality
Politics of Northern Ireland
Representative Government and Public Opinion
The European Union: History, Institutions and Theory
Theories and Issues of International Relations
Violence, Terrorism and Security
and three full modules or equivalent half-modules from the following:
Conflict Intervention
Global Terrorism
Independent Study in Gender and Society
International Political Economy
International Political Philosophy
Ireland and Europe
Issues in European Governance
Politics of the Republic of Ireland
Half-modules:
Case Study A: The Israeli-Palestine Conflict
Case Study B: Comparative Politics of Southern Africa
Democracy, Freedom and Equality or Politics and Cultural Forms
Utopias and Utopianism or The Media and Conflict
Plus a dissertation of no more than 15,000 words.
Examination and continuous assessment.
All of the MA programmes offered in the School provide an appropriate basis for those who wish to proceed to Doctoral study. In addition, our graduates go on to a wide range of careers in both the private and public sectors.
It is also possible to study for a Diploma in each of the areas covered by the MA programmes. The Diploma is constructed around the coursework elements of the MA programmes. On successful completion of the coursework, it is possible to complete the dissertation for an award of MA.
