Why did you decide to study at Queen’s University?

I visited Belfast on a weekend trip a couple of years ago and loved the city and its atmosphere. When I saw the university and found out more about it I was really keen to apply.

Why did you choose your course? Which aspects are you enjoying most?

I have always loved history and am fascinated by the skills it teaches us. The course at Queen’s offers fantastic variety, giving you the chance to explore a wide range of time periods as well as allowing you to select optional modules in other subjects. This is great as it makes the course diverse and engaging.

What were your first impressions of Queen’s when you started?

I was really impressed by the extent to which the University welcomes new students. Everyone was so friendly and an extensive range of activities were available to introduce students to both the university and Belfast as a whole. I felt at home very quickly.

What do you do outside of your studies?

Since starting at Queen’s, I have joined the Netball, Softball and History societies.

How have you settled into living in Belfast?

Elms Village provides a brilliant home away from home, giving you plenty of opportunities to meet new people. The facilities are fantastic and the rooms and communal areas are so spacious. The security of the village is so efficient as well which is reassuring when you are living away from home for the first time.

What advice would you give students thinking about studying at Queen’s?

Queen’s is a fantastic university with an exceptional student support network which makes the transition from school to university easy. Countless opportunities are on offer as soon as you arrive, so take every chance you can to get involved in new things and meet new people.
