Why did you decide to study at Queen’s University?
I absolutely loved the sound of the course as it seemed really varied and was taught in a way that suited me. Queen's has a great reputation for Medicine and being one of the Russell Group universities, I was confident that I was making a good choice. Since I live in Belfast and wasn’t hugely keen on leaving home, it seemed like the perfect option.
How have you found your experience at Queen's so far?
I have thoroughly enjoyed it and have absolutely no regrets about my decision to study here. My course has been both challenging and enjoyable, and has given me so many opportunities to meet new people. Every day is different and the course contains a great mix of content, both theoretical and practical. I have loved the fact that we have clinical experience from such an early stage.
What do you do outside of your studies?
I have joined the Christian Union, attending weekly meetings on Monday nights and also small group Bible studies on Wednesday evenings. I find these great opportunities to chat to older students, especially those doing the same course who can provide advice and encouragement.
What are your experiences of living in Belfast?
I have lived in Belfast all my life, but I still find it an interesting place to explore. Belfast is large enough to have the feel of a busy metropolitan capital city, but is also uniquely warm and welcoming. There's so much to do in the city centre and beyond and I love being part of such a vibrant, historical city.
What advice would you give students thinking about studying at Queen’s?
Come to the Open Days and see for yourself what life at Queen’s is like. Chat to current students about what they think of their course. I found this very insightful and the information provided by older students really helped me confirm where I wanted to study.
I’m confident that if you visit Queen’s you’ll be overwhelmed by the high standard of the teaching and the vast array of clubs and societies available for you to join. I would recommend Queen’s to anyone wishing to study at a world-renowned university in a dynamic, exciting city. Go for it!
