Why did you decide to study at Queen’s University?
I enjoyed my visit to Queen’s on the Open Day and I was very impressed by the facilities and the friendliness of the people. I already have friends and family in Belfast and this also influenced my decision to come and study at Queen’s.
How have you found your experience at Queen's so far?
I’m greatly enjoying being at university in general. It’s a far better experience than school even though I liked school! I find my course interesting and intellectually stimulating. In particular I enjoy the lectures by people who are passionate about their subject. I’ve found all my lecturers to be very approachable and more than willing to help with anything.
What do you do outside of your studies?
I really enjoy meeting with other Christians for Bible studies, outreach and prayer meetings, which take place throughout the week. I also enjoy table tennis and I occasionally play football. Both are good exercise but it’s the company that really makes the experiences memorable. No matter what your taste in sport or hobby there’s sure to be something that fits the bill at Queen’s.
What are your experiences of living in Belfast?
Belfast is a beautiful city and the area around Queen’s is one of the best. I love walking through Botanic Gardens on a warm day or going to a small café with some of my friends. The city has some incredible buildings well worth visiting and the centre is bustling with life. When I want peace and quiet I really love to go to the McClay Library and read a good book in a quiet corner with the sun streaming in the huge windows. The people in Belfast are amazing and the entire city is bursting full of little gems ready to be discovered.
What advice would you give students thinking about studying at Queen’s?
I would highly recommend it. The University itself is cutting-edge and yet it manages to retain a very personal and close-knit feel. The facilities are absolutely top-notch, especially the new McClay library. Be sure to do your research and attend the individual events for the courses that you’re interested in, as well as the general Open Days. You can be sure that whatever you want to study, Queen’s will do everything possible to help.
