Postgraduate Office

Queen's Lanyon Building

The Postgraduate Office at Queen's provides a focus for postgraduate education within the University. As part of its remit the Office is responsible for the administration of postgraduate awards; and skills training, registration and progress monitoring for postgraduate research students.

Of particular interest to prospective international students is the Postgraduate Office's role in administering and managing the University's Postgraduate Awards or Scholarships.  Information on sources of funding can be viewed on the Postgraduate Awards website.

An important part of the postgraduate research student experience will be the opportunity to develop transferable skills. These are skills relevant to a career both in an academic and non-academic work environment.

The Postgraduate Skills Training Programme offered by Queen's is coordinated by the Postgraduate Office. This programme offers all research students a choice of training courses and activities aimed at providing a wide variety of key skills. These courses supplement those provided by individual Schools and are available free of charge.

The courses and workshops available include:

- Project management
- Presentation skills
- Thesis writing tips
- Preparing for the viva
- Career management courses

A training certificate will be awarded to each research student on successful completion of his or her PhD.

Further information is available on the Postgraduate Skills Training Programme.
