Queen's has developed links with a number of prestigious universities throughout China. Below are details of the universities Queen's has co-operative links with and what they offer students.
Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) (Chemistry and Chemical Engineering)
A Queen’s partnership with BIT enables students from BIT to come to complete a Queen’s MSc in Process Engineering (To date, 69 students have done so.)
Further discussions are taking place to expand this partnership to include student exchange on additional Masters courses and for research collaboration.
Minzu University of China (History and Anthropology)
Queen’s University has established a collaborative relationship with Minzu University that enables students to progress to a Queen’s MA programme in Social Anthropology, and is currently exploring further options for collaboration.
The Queen’s School of History and Anthropology has also entered into a joint research project with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
China Medical University (CMU) (Pharmacy)
The existing relationship between Queen’s and CMU has been consolidated by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
From 2010, 20 students will enrol onto a new MSc in Drug Development, while plans for 2011 will see a new BSc in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology introduced. An existing MPhil programme in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, currently recruiting 12 students annually, will be continued. Academic staff research links will also be developed.
Institute of Medicinal Plant Development (IMPLAD), China Academy of Medical Sciences
The Queen’s Institute of Agri-Food and Land Use has signed an agreement with IMPLAD for collaboration in the areas of Doctoral studentships, exchange of staff, research scholars and symposia.
Central Music Conservatory of Beijing (Music and Sonic Arts)
The Queen’s School of Music and Sonic Arts has a staff and student exchange arrangement with the Conservatory.
Shenzen University / Shenzen University Foundation Programme
Queen’s University has had a long and successful relationship with Shenzhen University. The Shenzhen Foundation Programme has enabled over 400 students to come to Queen’s to undertake undergraduate programmes in Management, Engineering and Computing.
The Queen’s Management School has established a student mobility project in Entrepreneurship with Shenzen.
Soochow University
Queen’s has an agreement with Soochow that lets students progress to an MSc in Polymer Engineering.
Discussions are also underway between the two universities about the possibility of establishing a foundation programme, similar to that with Shenzen University.
Inner Mongolia Agricultural University (IMAU)
Queen’s has entered into an arrangement with IMAU whereby students may progress to MPhil in Food Safety or MSc in Biotechnology at Queen’s.
