Undergraduate entry requirements

Applicants with one of the following qualifications will be considered for direct entry to Queen's University Belfast's Bachelor degree programmes:

  • The Shahadat-al-thanawia-al-a’ama (General Secondary School Certificate) with a score of 80% and a recognised Foundation programme.
  • The American High School Diploma (with no APs or SAT IIs) with a gpa of 3.2/4.0 and a recognised Foundation programme.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed the first year of a Kuwaiti University degree with good grades in relevant subjects may be considered for admission to the first year of an undergraduate programme.
  • Between 30 and 36 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). Information on required grades.

Postgraduate entry requirements

Applicants should normally have a good bachelor degree from a recognised university in order to be considered for direct admission to postgraduate diploma or masters programmes. The normal entry requirement is grade B or 3.0/4 or 6.0/9 or 'Very Good'.

Queen's University Admissions Office staff have expertise on a wide range of qualifications from around the world and will be able to assess your application's comparability to the UK entry requirement. Please ensure you upload copies of all official transcripts and final award certificates for programmes already completed and those currently being completed.

If you are interested in postgraduate Computing, Finance or Management courses, but do not meet the entry requirements, you may wish to consider applying for a pre-masters Graduate Diploma offered by INTO Queen's.

Students interested in undertaking a PhD at Queen’s University require good grades in their Bachelor's and Master's programmes awarded by a recognised university in addition to a strong research proposal.

Please note that the grades required vary depending on the degree programme.  For further guidance, you should consult the Postgraduate Coursefinder or visit the website of the Queen's School that offers the degree programme.

English language requirements

Applicants will normally need to demonstrate a level of English equivalent to 6.5 IELTS or 90 TOEFL IBT (Internet based test). However, some degree programmes have higher or lower requirements (please check individual programme requirements in the relevant undergraduate or postgraduate University Coursefinder. INTO Queen's University Belfast offers a wide range of English Language courses, which may assist students to meet the required standard of English language to be eligible for entry to degree programmes at the University. INTO Queen's

INTO Queen’s University Belfast is a partnership with Queen's University which offers academic courses and English language programmes designed specifically for international students. The courses help prepare students for entry to university in the UK and acclimatise students to living and studying in a university environment.

There is an active Islamic Students Society at Queen's. There are two Islamic centres nearby and shops selling Halal food are within walking distance of the University. Queen’s offers some single-sex accommodation and helps all students to find suitable accommodation for their needs nearby.
