We accept a wide variety of qualifications. Below you will find information on undergraduate and postgraduate entry requirements, English Language requirements, potential scholarships for international applicants and details of our overseas agents and representatives.

Undergraduate entry requirements

Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for direct entry to Queen's University Belfast's Bachelor degree programmes:

  • The Certificate of Secondary Education (Maw 6) with good grades, plus a recognised Foundation programme such as our 9-month Foundation Course at INTO Queen's.
  • Applicants with one year of study at a Thai University with good grades in relevant subjects may be considered for Stage One entry.
  • Matayom 5 High School students with a GPA of 2.5+ can undertake our 9-month Foundation Course at INTO Queen's that leads to Year 1 of an undergraduate degree
  • Matayom 6 High School students with a GPA of 3.0+ can undertake our 9-month Diploma course at INTO Queen's that leads to Year 2 of an undergraduate degree in Finance or Engineering.
  • Between 30 and 36 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). Information on required grades.

Postgraduate entry requirements

Entry to graduate diploma or taught Masters programmes usually requires either a UK upper second-class (2:1) or a lower second-class (2:2) undergraduate degree. For most courses, your major subject or content of your Bachelor degree may also be considered. Please check the Postgraduate Course Finder for exact entry requirements.

The comparable qualifications from Thailand are as follows:

UK Upper Second-Class Honours (2:1)

A good Bachelor degree from a recognised Thai university with minimum GPA 3.0/4.

UK Lower Second-Class Honours (2:2)

A good Bachelor degree from a recognised Thai university with minimum GPA 2.8/4.

Queen's University Admissions Office staff have expertise on a wide range of qualifications from around the world and will be able to assess your application's comparability to the UK entry requirement. Please ensure you upload copies of all official transcripts and final award certificates for programmes already completed and those currently being completed.

If you are interested in Computing, Finance or Management courses, but do not meet the entry requirements, you may wish to consider a a pre-masters Graduate Diploma offered by INTO Queen's.

Students interested in undertaking a PhD at Queen’s University need good grades in their Bachelor and Masters degree programmes awarded by a recognised university, in addition to a strong research proposal.

English language requirements

Applicants will normally need to demonstrate a level of English equivalent to 6.5 IELTS or 90 TOEFL IBT (Internet based test). However, some courses have higher or lower requirements (please check individual programme requirements in the relevant undergraduate or postgraduate University Coursefinder. INTO Queen's University Belfast offers a wide range of English Language courses, which may assist students to meet the required standard of English language to be eligible for entry to degree programmes at the University. Our INTO Queen's Centre also offers a number of attractive scholarships from between 10 per cent and 100 per cent of the pre-university course tuition fees for the Foundation, Diploma and Graduate Diploma (pre-Masters) programmes
