Queen’s has been accepted for membership of the elite Russell Group of UK universities, thereby joining an association of 19 major research-intensive universities which include the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Edinburgh and University College London.
Welcoming the news, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Gregson said: “Queen’s is delighted to join the Russell Group of UK universities.
“This invitation is tremendous news. It enhances our role as an attractive destination for postgraduate students, businesses and investment. It also establishes Queen’s and Northern Ireland as one of the main learning centres in the UK.
“Russell Group membership is recognition of the outstanding contributions of our staff over many years and it will enhance the Queen’s Experience for future generations of students.”
The Russell Group is an association of leading UK research-intensive Universities committed to maintaining the highest standards of research, education and knowledge transfer. Russell Group universities are major international institutions which also have a strong national and regional role and influence.
