Welcome to Queen’s University Belfast, a world-class university with 160 years of heritage. Queen’s is a member of the Russell Group of the UK’s 24 leading research-intensive universities, and has won Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Further and Higher Education on five occasions – for world-class achievement in cancer research, green chemistry, environmental research, palaeoecology and law.

Five “Times Higher Education Awards” recognise the spirit of innovation which pervades the University – Excellence and Innovation in the Arts in 2008, UK Entrepreneurial University of the Year in 2009, Outstanding Engineering Research Team of the Year in 2010, Most Innovative Teacher of the Year in 2011 and Outstanding Fundraising Team in 2012.

Queen's is one of only three UK universities to hold an Athena Swan Institutional Silver Award, and its position within the Times Top 50 Employers for Women reflects our commitment to gender equality.

From the award-winning Students in Free Enterprise initiative, which helps disadvantaged people from Belfast to Uganda, to the sixty businesses emanating from the University, Queen’s impact on the society we serve is truly exceptional.  And it is built on excellence in education and research.

The dynamic curriculum, attuned to the needs of students and employers, is central to Queen’s education.   New programmes such as Politics, Philosophy and Economics, Actuarial Studies and Mathematics for Finance, together with formal integration of the medical training offered through Queen’s University Teaching Hospitals across Northern Ireland, ensure that our graduates are well-equipped for their subsequent careers in the professions, public or private sectors.

The UK’s Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security, the EU recognised Centre for Food Safety and Security, and the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility are examples which demonstrate the impact of Queen’s research on society, whilst in the arts, the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry underpins the University’s reputation as a world literary force.

We have world-class facilities.  Through the McClay Library, which has been hailed as one of the best university libraries in Europe, the new Riddel Hall campus hosting the Leadership Institute and the Queen's University Management School, the emerging Health Sciences Research Campus and our exceptional sporting facilities, we continue to enhance our distinctive campus, thus providing the best possible environment within which our staff and our students can flourish.

So welcome to the Queen’s Experience.  I hope that you will find this website interesting and discover the exceptional opportunities for life and study at Queen’s.

Enjoy your browsing.
