Congratulations and Welcome to Queen's

This website is designed to help you understand what you will be expected to do once you receive confirmation of your place at Queen’s and during your first few weeks here, in order to formally become a member of the Queen’s community.

There are three stages to this process; initial actions, next steps and additional steps. The stages and related tasks are shown on the right of each page.

Initial Actions

The tasks here are your first steps on the road to becoming a Queen’s student.

Before you arrive you will be invited to check your new Queen’s email and begin the online registration Wizard.  You may also be able to enrol online on your classes or make contact with your programme supervisor.

Instructions on whether you are expected to enrol on classes, or confirm your research title etc. will be sent to your new email account.

Next Steps

Having completed the first steps in the process to become a student at Queen’s, there are a few more things you need to do in order to finish off this process. These include finalising your enrolment and registration, getting your Student Card, and other activities to help you settle in quickly to Queen’s and get off to the best start possible. It is important to familiarise yourself with QOL (Queen’s Online), and to attend your  induction programme where you will find out key information about your programme of study, and module selection (if applicable).

Have a look at the links on the right of the homepage for more information about these next few steps.

Additional Steps

The final additional steps aim to help ensure that your time at Queen’s is as happy, fulfilling and productive as possible. Registering with a doctor means that you can get medical advice as soon as you need it, exploring the library early will mean quicker access to academic resources, and students with disabilities can register for specialist support with the Disability Service in the Student Guidance Centre. The International and Postgraduate Student Centre, along with the Student Guidance Centre also provide numerous services and support to help you during your time at Queen’s.
