Additional Steps 1 - Library

1. Explore the Library

The McClay Library is the main library at Queen’s and is situated in College Park, at the top of Botanic Avenue, flanked by the trees of Botanic Park.

Within the McClay library are subject specific areas housing over 1million books, a Language Centre, two language labs, the Computer Help Desk and shop and specialists in media production. There is an Extended Hours Study Room, designed to provide computing access when the main floors with their workstations have closed. There is also a Short Loan Collection for essential texts.

The McClay contains numerous PC workstations grouped close to print rooms at the centre of each of the upper floors, while most of the library’s other workdesks are arranged to exploit the light available from all sides of the building. There are also 21 bookable study rooms, for group discussions and project work.

Wireless connections are available throughout the library, allowing you to work on your laptop, or the library also run a laptop borrowing service should you require it.

Queen’s also has three other libraries: The MBC library primarily for nursing, medical and biomedical science students, the Medical and Healthcare Library, again for medical and dental students, and the Agri-Food and Biosciences Library.

Further information on all the services the library has to offer can be found here.
