About Milena

What inspires you?
Working with people that I admire as professionals; the possibility to some day do a piece of research or write something that will make a real difference to somebody’s life.

What are you most proud of?
My two children.

Where’s your favourite place in Belfast?
The university area and Botanic Gardens. We used to live in this area when we first came to Belfast and when our first child was born. Also, The Lagan Meadows, Belvoir and Clement Wilson Parks - we have spent countless hours walking there.

Sum up your life in a hashtag…
#curiouserandcuriouser

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
All of my friends – now dispersed in different parts of the world – who are otherwise never together in the one place.

If I wasn’t working in academia I would be…
Making documentary films about the history, culture and societies of the Balkans… or else a café owner selling my own pastries and cakes.
