School of Geography, Archaeology and Palaeoecology

The School of Geography, Archaeology and Palaeoecology is delighted that the RAE 2008 results for Archaeology and Palaeoecology and Geography show a substantial continuing increasing capability for research quality and international excellence across the School.

Head of School Professor Julian Orford said both areas have shown an increasing involvement with the highest quality research, with more than 50% of the School’s research being officially peer-recognised as being "internationally excellent" (RAE Grade 3*) or "world class" (RAE Grade 4*).

“Both units are within the top 10 ranks for their respective discipline sectors. These results show that Archaeology  and Palaeoecology and Geography are at the leading edge of science research in Queen’s University, and is a valid reflection of the research dedication and delivery of School staff,” he said.
