[Fol. 2r] This dissent of the moost victorious and christen prynce kyng Edward the sext sone and heire of kyng henry the viij that goeth lynyally to brute is true lynage & agreith with the best cronycles in Wales and was at the true examination off the same The abbatt of llynegwestill master doctor even pole syr johan lyaff priest Guttyn owen Robert ap hoell ap Thomas johan kyng madoc ap lly ap hoell & gruff ap lly vichan who hathe founde and proved this good and true lynage ~

Henry ap Edmund ap owain ap Meredith ap ind ap grono ap tudur ap grono ap edenevett vichan baron of brynssynnyble in north wales This edenevett vichan was cheff justice & conncell with lly ap Jer drowndwn prynce of all wales and in the tyme of the said lly ap Jer there grewe a varyaunce betwyxe kyng John of England and the said prynce lly ap Jer & the said kyng John dydd […] iij lordes to were upon the said prynce. And so as the said iij lordes came nere vnto wales the said Edenevede vichan had in his mynde to take parte with prynce hoste with his one power and people. This dyfnwall was sone of dodien or Klydno one named kyng sone of Enyde ap Kerrwid ap kydon ap dyfn warch ap prydain ap aedd maw rap antonyus ap Seisslltt kyng This Seisslltt was the first that was crowned kyng wylliam ap gruffith kyng ap ap kywallon ap kennedda ap kegawe doghter & heire to the kyng whiche begatte was weddi to henwyn prynce of Cadwall [Cornwall?] by whom the had yssue kyngueldda that was kyng Whiche kegawe was doghter to llyr kyng whiche was a strong kyng & a holye & he maide a cetie apon a ryuer side that was called Sorram & he called it after hes owne name Caer llyre and nowe it is called leysedor & he had iij doghters & none one sone Which llyr was sone to bleddynd kyng one of the xxiiij kynges This bleddynd was a strong kyng & had grette conyng & he maide a cetie apon a [fol. 3v] ryuer side that was called wighte and he called it after whayton & he through his conyng maide the bathe through whiche many sycke folke had helthe & he maide wynges to hym selfe to flye & so he dydde flye to London & there as he wold haue lyght vpon a steple he fell downe & brake his necke ~

Bleythnde was sone to Kvnbalader bras kyng one of xxiiij kynges which was a hardy kyng & a strong and he made canterburie wynchestre & Exeter This Kvnbalader was sone to lleon kyng one of xxiiij kynges whiche was syne & a god kyng & greatly preysed & he made a cetie vpon a ryuer side that was called dee & he called this cetie after hes owne name Caer llion that is to saye in Englysshe westchester & in that tyme Jerusalem was bylded in the lond of Jury This llion was the sone of brutus Daurianlas one of the xxiiij kynges which was a myghte kyng & rightwys he dyd make a wall and a chapell apon ryuers side the which was called Alklud & he called it Caer alklud & it was called after that the maydens castell & nowe it is called Carlile This brutus was sone to effrocke kyng one of the xxiiij kynges whiche was a mighte kyng of highness & he dyd byld a worschipfull cetie apon a ryuers side in the northe the whiche was called dwedd & called it after his name Caer effrocke And nowe it is called York & he had xxx doghters & xx sonce the whiche went to garmania saue brutus dawrialas ~

Effroc was sone to membire kyng of the xxiiij kynges & he was a rightfull kyng & a strong and he dyd byld a worschypfull cetie vpon a ryuer side the which was called towne in the myddes of the realm & called it after his owne name Caer member and after that it was celled caer vosse & nowe it is called oxford

This membire was sone to madoc kyng son to locrynus kyng sone to brute the fyrste of the xxiiij kynges This brute the sone of Silius kyng. sone of ysrainus kyng sone of Eneas ysywithwyn kyng maide a cetie vpon the ryuer side the which was called tame & he called it newe troye & it was called afore ward Caer lluydd & it is called nowe London~

[fol. 4r]This brut had iij sones camber albanactus & locrinus and he made camber kyng of wales after whom wales was called chamber off whom we can not fynde which come any yssue off his body Albanactus he made kyng of Scotland after whom Scotland is called albyon which was slayne & died withowt yssue the thyrde sone was locrynus afore said which was made kyng of England after whiche whose name England in walsche is called lloigere of whom Kyng henry the viijth is lynyally descended by yssue male Sauyng one woman that ys Kagvne verch llyr and ys sone to brutus in xxiiij xix degrees which is proued of a truth by old cronycles & good cronycles in wales that ys to say Syr John lyaffe priste Guttyn Owayne Gruff ap lly vichan mad ap lly ap howell Robert ap howell ap Thomas of Ruthyn & other at which making was John kyng and all at the kynges Coste and commaundement And had the vyce & councell of the abbot of lleneywestyll & master doctor Owen pole chanon of herford This brute afore said Jnhabyted this land with bryttaynes and after the making of the world iiij lxxviiij yeres and he lyuede in this lond or he was crowned kyng lx yeres and after he was crowned xx yeres xiiiiicc lxxx yeres

Henri kynge of england son of Edmunde Erle of Rychemonde son to Eden ap Mare ap tudur ap grono ap tudur ap grono ap gwenllian doghter to the arglwith Res in englische lorde Richard prince of sowth wales son to gruff prince this gruff ap Res prince In the dayes of kyng henri the seconde of england the was put out of his principalitie and left hime nomore // no more to lyue on whiche Gruff had bene with the said kyng henry in England & as he was comyng into wales with the erle of Erford & with Ewias the sewart as in ward came rydyng by a pond that is by breanecke in wales wherin at that tyme ware dyuerce fysches that were vleatyng on the pond of dyuerce colors & ther vsaige was þat and he þat had be true sone of soth wales of the naturall bloud of the brute had comyng rydyng that waye they all wold haue sett vpp a grett noyse in syngyng euery one in his maner as marelye as the thurstell on the lynned as it was proued on the said Gruff As is afore said as he came rydyng by that pond with they erle of herford & the stuart the erle halffe in a gape said yf he were right full prynce of the troyianes bloud the fowles shuld syng merely & desyre the prynce to commaund theym to syng and Gruff the prynce answeared & said þat they erle astate was greyng and his flyttyng & desyred hym to commaund fyrst and yf they wold not fulfylle hes preceptes then wold he commaund then the erle commaundyd & the stewart also the fowles to syng but ther commaundement was in vayne none of the said fisshes wold syng Then Gruff the prynce as a chrysten knyghte lyghted of hes horse & turned his face toward the east wth hertely deuocion knelyng on hes kness these wordes saying [fol.5r] Lhude god almyghtie iij persons in one to the besiche J graunt me my loue & shew th[at] all these people maye itt se Yf  J of the rightfull of brutues be & gyue that J righte eyre be of south wales to the pryncypalitie geue me power good lord in thy name to commaund these fisches to Shewe the same And as sone as the had done this prayer he commaundyd the foules euery chone in the name of Almyghtie god to syng merely And in contynent they fflatered vp euery chone & sang merely After the tyme þat god had gyuen them power And this done all þat were there fered & maruelet muche thereoff And when they came to the kyng shewed hym all the case of Gruff demeanyng then the kyng sware by the crosse þat god died on þat Gruff was prynce of very ryghte

Whiche Gruff was son to to Res prynce of Southwales ap tewdewr mawr prynce ap eynion[?] prynce ap owen prince ap hoell dda prynce ap kadell prince of sowth walles ap Rodry mawr prynce of all wales that is to saye northwalles Sowthwalles & Powes This Rodry mawr had iij sones that was called Kadell anarawd and merthwyny prynce of northwales Rodry mawr devydyd the pryncypalite of walles in iij partes betwixe these forsaid iij sones And made merthwyny prince of northwales which dyed withowt yssue of hys body And when Merthwyny was deed Anarand was made prynce of northwales & Kadell had southwalles and powes Anarand prynce of powes Kadell prynce of Sowthwalles son to Rodrye mawr to whom Kyng henry the viijth is son in xvij degrees Rodrye mawr was sone to Mervryn Vrech kyng of man son to gwryad ap Elydyr ap sadess ap alkoryn ap tegid ap gwayere ap dwyr ap llowarch hen ap Elydyr lydanwyn ap merione ap gruff ap kenav ap koell godevoc kyng ap tegvane etc to bely mawr to whom kyng henry is son this ways in

[sidenote] by gyttyn owen is boke] Henry ap edmund erle of Richmuntt ap owen ap mared ap tudur ap grono ap tudur ap grono ap gwenllean verch to yr arglowith Res prynce ap Gruff prynce ap Res prynce ap Tewdur this Res ap Tewdur was a nowble prince & called of all wales the dignetie & the fflowr whuthe had many skyrmytces [fol. 5v] and battelles to deffend his righte & had great travelles & he was slayne at bracknock with the frenche nacion to the greate hurtt & derogacion off all walles And this noble Res ap tewder ffondede the hospitalitie of Rounceble to harberowe the pore people also he gaue to the howse of saynte dauyd the lordschipe of papydyanke & of llawheden to be oner prayed ffor also he ffounde to Denbye the howse of saynt john And the preery of Caermarden Also he endowed þe house of chartesay & of kardagan with þe preiory to be preyed fore porpetuaily that of his soule shuld haue mercie & bured at sainte dauys afore hym succedyd his sone gruff Whom king henry the Secund sore warred with and put hym with greate & myght from his enherytaunce dignetie and ryghte And left hym no more to lyue vpon Tycept[?] Cantref mawr. Alone that not withstondyng when kyng henry decessed prynce Gruff power gadered & Jncreaced & at yttrdygan with frenche men & fflemmynges faught fast with his enymeyes Som drenched in the water of some slayne on land  ther was not of them þat  myght hyt withstond This daye they called the blacke the blacke seterday þat prynce gruff the victory bar a waye he dyed then so yn possession afterwhom by ryht of Succession was gruff his son myghtie & strong warred for his ryghte & wrong And vynquissed after his enemyes And retorned lande townes & castelles he died possessed in his ryghte & lyeth buryed as a chrysten knyght at saint dauyd at þe awters end for his mercy to blysse his soule send

This Tewdur aforsaid ap eigne prynce ap hoell dda prynce ap kadell prince of southewales & powes ap rodry mawr kyng of all wales ap Essylltt verch kynan dyndeithwy prince ap rodry malunac prynce ap Jdwall Jwrch prynce ap kawalader kyng of all bryttayne A Curtysse kyng & a holy vpon all the lande of bryttanyne ~ reiyned a xlij yeres and it please god to send to the land of brittayne honger & syckenes of great death the which caused hym to go ouer to lyttle per bryttayne And then came in sexe burges in to the land of bryttyn with herr iiijc cij men of germania  And he had made hes schyppes & vesselles redy to take the see homward into his and then an angell bade hym leave off & go to rome & so he dyd and this was the last kyng of the bryttones ~

[fol. 6r] Kadwalader was son to kadwallawn kyng wiche kadwallawn was a stronge kyng and a dredefull and fought with the alyans and oft put them to flyght & euer had the better And he reigned kyng of bryttayne xlviij yeres and when he died his body was noynted with precious noyntementes and was put & closed in a ymage of latten that they make bassens off & was sett vpon london gate and he was called the latten knight for so said merlion by hym afore to Gurtheyrn gwrthenaw long er he was borne And all the tyme that the said latten knyght stoode on longate the alyons had no power to warre vpon brytten

Kadwallawn was sone to kadvan kyng ap jago ap bely ap ken ap maethelgwn goytiedd kyng whiche was a stronge kyng & a dredefull & he made harlegh kaer dyganwy shrewisburie & he had one sone & one doughter the whiche sone was kwne & the doghter of evrgayne ~

Maelgwn gwynedd was sone to kasswallon llawter ap eigne Jrche ap kynnedda wledic ap Edyrn ap paddarne peiffrudd ap tegyd ap Jago ap gwynain ap keme ap gwrgain ap doli ap gwrgoly ap dwne ap gwrddwyne ap anaeird ap onwed ap diwch ap brychwyn ap ywain ap assech ap bely mawr kyng of all wales to whom kyng henry the vijth is fond this ways in
