BSc Honours in Pharmaceutical Studies

This degree (BSc Honours in Pharmaceutical Studies) is only available to those candidates who were enrolled for the MPharm degree in pharmacy and who failed, for whatever reason, to obtain the standard for award of the MPharm degree. The degree of BSc Honours in Pharmaceutical Studies is only awarded on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners. The degree classification is based on performance in the Pharmacy course, namely (a) in the case of a student who fails to proceed to Stage 4, the six module equivalents in Level 3 of equal weight = 75% of the final mark and four single modules of equal single weight and one double module of double weight at Level 2 = 25% of the final mark, (b) in the case of a student who fails the MPharm at the end of Stage 4, the best six module equivalents in Level 3 and Level 4 of equal weight = 75% of the final mark and four single modules of equal single weight and one double module of double weight at Level 2 = 25% of the final mark.

Note: This degree is not accepted by the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland or the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain for the purposes of registration, and practice as a pharmacist.
