SLUDGEGUARD is a rapid test that allows the advanced detection and control of Microthrix parvicella induced bulking and foaming incidents in activated sludge systems. Based on several years of research and development the test kit is at prototype stage and should be ready for sale by the end of 2003.

Gives up to 2 weeks advanced warning of bulking and foaming incidents. Indicates when remedial action is required. Shows when remedial action has taken effect. Detects when plant is back to normal.

The test is easy to use and gives fast, accurate, easy to interpret results at a cost that is low enough to enable plant managers to build the test into their weekly or even daily monitoring and control regime.

The increased accuracy and speed of the test will also appeal to larger laboratories currently using a microscopy approach.
