Aims and Objectives

Methodology
The programme consists of four to six weekly meetings, which take place in a group or school setting. Each group consists of approximately 14 parents and meetings last between one and two hours with tea and coffee provided. The meetings are parent-focused and and are orientated around six themes:
- Healthy lifestyle;
- Routines;
- Learning through play;
- Literacy;
- Positive parenting styles;
- Behaviour management.
Twenty primary schools in the Southern Educationa and Library Board area are participating in the evaluation which consists of two elements:
- A randomised controlled trial (RCT) design to evaluate the effectiveness of the DELTA Parenting Programme in improving parent outcomes (specifically parental efficacy and social support).
- A qualitative process evaluation will be carried out alongside the RCT and will explore the process of programme delivery as well as exploring parent (and child) outcomes in more depth.
