Aims and Objectives
The principle aims of the WELL 2 project are to support people to achieve their full potential by increasing learning opportunities and promoting well-being amongst people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and mental ill health. In order to achieve this the WELL 2 project will involve a wide range of partners will facilitate the inclusion of beneficiaries into mainstream programmes or will establish new programmes with the overarching aim of improving provision to better meet the needs of people with disabilities.
The key objectives of the proposed evaluation are to assist WELL 2 in the process of reviewing:
· Programme quality and delivery
· Project outputs
· Project outcomes
· Perceived long term change
Methodology
Quantitative data
The data collected by the Well 2 outreach support workers on a client’s entry to, and exit from, the project will be supplemented by standardised questionnaires to evaluate progress on improved mental and/or physical wellbeing as a result of project activity. These are:
Mental Wellbeing
Quality of Life
Global assessment of life satisfaction
Hope scale
The following standardised measures have been agreed for use:
· Warwick-Edinburgh Wellbeing Scale (Tennant et al., 2006);
· Quality Of Life Scale (Flanagan, 1978;Burckhardt et al.,1989);
· Cantril’s Ladder (Cantril, 1965);
· State Hope Scale (Synder, 1996).
Qualitative data
The quantitative data will be supplemented by in-depth interviews which will be carried out with six young people participating in the programme, as well as with their carer and their outreach support worker. Six months after leaving the project, further in-depth interviews will be conducted with these six young people. Focus groups will be carried out to gather the views of those groups and individuals who may have a range of perspectives including beneficiaries, project workers, network partners etc.
Outputs
Interim and final reports will be produced that can be disseminated by the Well 2 project team to inform best-practice.
