Staff Profile

The research focus is on elucidation of pathogenic mechanisms of morbilliviruses and related virus infections as well as characterization of new virus isolates. A major interest is in the interaction of viruses with cell receptors (with particular emphasis on neural cell and airway receptors) as major determinants of virus host range, tissue tropism and induction of disease. 


Co-ordination, course development and teaching Medical Microbiology and Immunology to Medical and Dental students.

Co-orgination, course development and teaching of Virology to science students.

Aspects of Molecular biology are taught  (plus course development and co-ordination of Molecular medicine course) to these different student groups.

Co-ordination of Infection control session for final year Medical Students.
