Research Statement

My current research is firmly focused on inflammatory demyelinating disorders of the CNS with an emphasis on immune-mediated pathology. My ongoing work in murine and human immune models, is investigating the fundamental biology of IL-27 and its therapeutic potential in inflammatory/autoimmune disease, with particular focus on Th1 and Th17 mediated inflammatory responses. My previous research has encompassed the role of TLRs in autoimmune inflammation and mucosal immunology. I am also currently developing the basis for a research program on mechanisms of repair in the CNS and how the immune system and ageing may modulate such mechanisms.
