The School of Politics at Queens is a world leader in research on Irish politics and has a particular concentration of expertise on the conflict in Northern Ireland. Research, which spans both parts of the island, embraces political history, political theory, intellectual biography, the internationalism of the Northern Irish problem, electoral politics, gender, the impact of the EU, the mechanisms which have been devised in the search for peace, the significance of the Good Friday Agreement in a wider devolutionary context, as well as comparison of Northern Ireland with other conflict locations.
