About us

Welcome to the Centre for Public Health (CPH), one of four research centres within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences.  Under the directorship of Professor Liam Murray, the Centre for Public Health has 33 academics, 29 researchers, 7 professional support staff, 10 technical, 19 administrative staff and 70 postgraduate students.

The Centre is based at the Institute of Clinical Sciences Block B (ICSB) in modern, refurbished accommodation on the Royal Group of Hospitals site and hosts both the Centre of Excellence for Public Health (Northern Ireland), one of five UKCRC public health Centres of Excellence, as well the All-Ireland Hub for Trials Methodology Research one of the eight Medical Research Council Methodology Hubs.  It will also host the new Clinical Research Facility - a newly developed 10 room facility funded by the Wellcome Trust and Wolfson Foundation which opened in October 2011.   Members of CPH collaborate with a number of other Schools across the University, in particular through the Centre for Health Improvement, a cross-University initiative which brings together researchers from a range of academic backgrounds and approaches with interests in this area.
