Advisory Board
PURPOSE OF THE BOARD
The Leverhulme Trust and the research team feel that a programme of this level of funding and duration requires an International Advisory Board to assist in the management of the project and as a source of advice to the researchers. By appointing key specialists in the field with international reputations for scholarship and extensive experience in managing large research projects, their prestige carries over to our programme while enabling the research team to benefit greatly from this knowledge. Members have also been selected from an international range of leading universities worldwide. However, we have also been mindful of appointing a representative of Queen's University Belfast and two members of the research team. The Advisory Board has a Chair.
Members of the Board will be consulted on an ad hoc basis as and when the research team feels it needs advice, but they can offer advice on their own behalf. The Board will also meet once a year to review progress. Meetings may be held virtually or in person. After the first Board meeting in the University of Aberdeen it is possible to rotate meetings so that they occur in countries where field work and date collection is occurring. With the transfer of the project to Queen's University Belfast in April 2013 this creates another venue. The venue and format of meetings will be determined by the Board. Money has been set aside within the grant to fund the Board's activities. The Chair will receive an annual report from the Principal Investigator on progress during the year and plans for the next. The Chair will submit the Board's assessment of progress independently to the Vice Chancellor of Queen's University Belfast and the Director of the Leverhulme Trust. Annual Reports will be published on the programme's website.
