Dr Emi Garcia-Palacios

Senior Lecturer

Location: Ashby Building, Room 07.023

Email: e.garcia@qub.ac.uk

Research Interests:

  • Resource Management and Optimisation in Wireless Communications
  • Performance assessment of Future High Dense Network
  • Wireless Sensor Networks and IoT
  • Cognitive Radio Networks
  • Spectrum Management

I believe that in the near future wireless networks will experience unprecedented change: they will be high dense, heterogeneous and highly connected. Some of the key challenges I am addressing include how to manage resources at the physical and the mac layer, how to manage spectrum for co-existence and how to ensure connectivity. Research in areas such as spectrum access, multi-hop, relay and cognitive are timely and necessary. This research is a key enabler to the IoT paradigm where billions of sensors will create high dense networks and need to co-exist and compete for spectrum access. I also have an interest in security and trust which remains a major challenge in this context.
