Research Project:
Voltage Optimization for HV/LV Networks

Project Background:
The significant increase in electricity loads from LCT along with embedded renewable generation presents major challenges for the voltage and thermal management of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) networks. Therefore, innovative technology for coordinated configuration and voltage optimization in real‐time is required to maintain power quality and network voltage within statutory limits. Objectives: Develop and validate network configuration and voltage optimization methodologies for the HV and LV networks with different network configurations. Investigate and evaluate different optimization methods, including stochastic optimization for constrained nonlinear programming problems for application to real‐time voltage and network configuration optimization.
