Biography
Sobhy Abdelkader obtained a first-class B.Sc. honours degree in 1984, M.Sc. in 1989 and a Ph.D. in 1995, all in Electrical Engineering and all from Mansoura University, Egypt.
Since 1984, he has been employed by the Department of Electrical Engineering at Mansoura University. Initially as a demonstrator in 1984 then an assistant Lecturer in 1989 and a Lecturer in 1995. In 2001 he was promoted to Assistant Professor and then Professor in 2007. He joined Queen’s University Belfast as a Senior Research Fellow in 2007.
While teaching at Mansoura University, he contributed in a number of funded research projects for South Delta Electricity Distribution Company and Delta Electric Company in collaboration with Howard University (USA).
His research interests include power system analysis and control, power quality, power system planning, renewable energy, and energy markets.
