Xiang (Shawn) Li received his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation from the School of Electric Information at Dalian Jiaotong University in 2013. He was employed as an assistant engineer by the Beijing Railway Administration for a few months, whereupon he moved to the UK, obtaining his MSc in Electrical Power System Engineering from the University of Manchester in 2015. He spent almost a year working as a research assistant in the Electric Power Engineering Laboratory at the University of Macau, working on single flow assisted zinc battery based energy.
Shawn joined the Energy, Power and Intelligent Control cluster at Queen’s University Belfast in October 2016, and is based in the newly established international joint Laboratory on Electric Vehicles and Smart Grid. His PhD research focuses on developing new and advanced modelling and control technologies for battery management in electric vehicles and battery based energy storage systems.
