Welcome to the Institute of Child Care Research (ICCR) at Queen's University Belfast. Founded in 1995, this multidisciplinary research unit is dedicated to researching the lives of children and young people in Northern Ireland.

This year, we are celebrating 18 years of the Institute, with an event on Thursday the 20th June, and the publication of a booklet illustrating our story, which you can download here. 

The Institute has flourished because of genuine partnerships with others concerned with children and families – such as policy-makers, practitioners and leaders in the voluntary, private and public sectors – and with children and young people themselves. We intend to maintain a leading role in providing scientifically robust answers to questions about the lives of our children, young people, and their families, and about the quality and effectiveness of services provided to them.
