Biography

I joined the Institute of Child Care Research in January 2013, working on the New Parent Project, developing a manual for an intensive home visiting program. This manual will be delivered to a group on new mothers living in deprived areas and who have a range of social complexities. The desired outcomes for the project are to improve maternal health and emotional wellbeing, improve infant-parent attachment and to improve parental self-efficacy. This project is funded by the Public Health Agency.

I have recently completed my PhD research as part of the Premature Adult Lung Study (PALS) group, a multidisciplinary team currently undertaking research to comprehensively evaluate the impact of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in adult life. My research focused on the respiratory outcome, executive function and health related quality of life of a group of BPD adults aged 18-32. This research was completed under the supervisor of Dr Lorcan McGarvey, Dr Mark Linden and Dr Dale Spence.

Research interests

My research interests include maternal and child health and particularly the long-term follow up of premature infants and those with respiratory difficulty.
