Children in Public Care and Children Adopted
Children in the care of public authorities and adopted is one of the four key themes that make up the programme of work in the ICCR. Research topics that fall under the umbrella of this theme cover all forms of care including adoption, fostering, residential care and ‘at home’ placements.
Research on this theme focuses upon children’s care careers, children’s experience in care, care proceedings, and issues of substitute parenting. Such research spans early and later care experiences and associated outcomes for younger and older children. The theme is one which has seen much Government interest with the publication of Children Matter and Adopting Best Care and features highly in HPSS Priorities for Action: Planning Framework for the HPSS 2006/8.
