Phase 4: The teens and early adulthood

The current phase of the study, Care Pathways and Outcomes: the teens and early adulthood (2016-2019), aims to answer three key research questions:

  1. What is the current placement profile for a population of children who were under the age of five and in care on the 31st March 2000 in Northern Ireland?
  2. Is there a mediating effect of placement type (i.e. adopted; foster care; kinship care; residential care; Residence Order; living with birth parents; residential care; living independently) across a range of outcome indicators?
  3. What factors are important for understanding placement stability and breakdown in the late teenage years (across all placement types)?
